was born in Haarlem, Netherlands in 1962. He studied in Amsterdam at the Academy of Fine Arts and completed a research-fellowship/artist in residency at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts.
He moved to Torino, Italy in 1997 where he collaborated for many years with gallery Studio Trisorio (Napoli, Italy). In this period he deeply went into the subject of yoga and nonduality. After completing a public art project for Panasonic in Tokyo in 2003, he moved to Japan.
From 2006 he started a collaboration with @aroma Co.,Ltd in Tokyo as an Aroma Space Designer. (http://www.at-aroma.com) His original natural fragrances are used for diffusing in public spaces for clients such as: SHIPS (apparel), Fujiya Hotel, Westin Hotel, Sony, Seven Stars (JT Company), Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi Motors. He designed an aroma stone for ANA's original brand fragrance.
Since 2004 Maurice Joosten has offered regular yoga classes in Kamakura and Hayama, Japan.
From 2013 he lives in Berlin.
